Office Of The President

The St. Lucia Football Association (SLFA) based on a mandate from FIFA has concluded the transition program from Youth and Sports Councils to Football Leagues. Nineteen Football Leagues now comprise the members of the Saint Lucia Football Association. The association has built into its structure the Zonal system headed by a Vice President, which comprises the following areas;

• Northern Zone – Gros Islet, Babonneau, Central Castries, La Clery, Marchand
• Eastern Zone – Mabouya Valley, Dennery, Mon Repos, Micoud, Desruisseaux
• South Zone – Vieux Fort North, Vieux Fort South, Laborie, Choiseul, Soufriere
• Western Zone – South Castries, Roseau Valley, Anse La Raye, Canaries

The Leagues are affiliated with the SLFA and is comprised of a minimum of six (6) “bonafide clubs” within the specific geographical area and must produce a written constitution which has been approved by the Executive committee of the St. Lucia Football Association.

The SLFA has advised Leagues to form sub-committees to develop operating procedures with its members and executive committee to enable the environment for growth and development in the sport. It is also recommended that the management capacity of the leagues be strengthened through a series of football retreats which will provide them with information on the formulation of a regulatory framework. Core competencies, vision, and mission.

The League is defined as an Association of Football Clubs/Teams and was initiated in 2015 through a series of focused group meetings with Youth and Sports Councils and other key stakeholders. The League structure embraces a culture of inclusion, collective responsibility, governance, participatory development and decision making, allowing for a transparent model for members of the SLFA. Their primary objective is to develop beautiful games using the FIFA Model for Football Development and its sustenance.

The SLFA is planning and ushering a new day in Football through this empowerment process which has invariably herald a transformation from the bottom up.
